Video of immigration agent hugging child at San Ysidro border crossing goes viral

A person captured the tender moment in which a CBP officer interacts with a couple of children at the Tijuana border crossing.

Since yesterday, a video has gone viral on social media in which a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agent tenderly greets two children accompanying their mother at the San Ysidro border, located in the city of Tijuana, Baja California.

In the recording you can see the moment when the U.S. agent approaches both children and their mother, who works as a street vendor at the border crossing. Afterwards, the uniformed officer hugs one of the children and then greets his brother, says a few words to his mother and leaves.

With comments such as "not all migras (agents) are bad" and "how cute", Facebook and Twitter users have reacted to the tender moment, sharing the video, which has already become a national phenomenon. The act did not surprise the world, but rather confirmed that there are indeed police officers who care and treat everyone with dignity, regardless of the position they hold, as it should always be.

After Joe Biden took office as president of the United States of America last January 20, the policies implemented in terms of migration have caused controversy in much of the American population, mainly in those sympathetic to former President Donald Trump.

The protection of the DACA program (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), the suspension in the construction of the U.S.-Mexico border wall and the commitment to reunite immigrant children who were separated from their parents under the "zero tolerance" law, are among the first actions Biden took to reverse some of the policies implemented by Trump during his term in office between 2017-2021.
