The U.S. announces new form to apply for permanent residency

The current form will only be valid until April 19, after that date you will have to use the new one.

Are you looking to apply for permanent residency in the United States? We inform you that some changes have been made that will take effect as of April 19, 2021. These changes have to do, mainly, with the Form I-485.

Until now, the form that was being accepted was the 10/15/19 form, however, they have updated the document and as of the date mentioned above you will have to fill out Form 03/10/21. If after this date you continue with the old version it will no longer be valid.

Form I-485 is used to collect information that was previously collected on Form I-864W, which is a request for an exemption to the Affidavit of Support for Prospective Immigrants. Adjustment applicants no longer need to file Form I-864W.

You can click here to select the form you need to fill out in order to start your visa process, just make sure that by mid-April you are filling out the appropriate form.
