A few days ago through his Twitter account, Esteban Moctezuma Barragan, Ambassador of Mexico to the United States, informed the community that he spoke with the Consul General of Mexico in San Diego, Carlos Gonzalez.

The discussion was about the fact that the San Ysidro border crossing is the most visited border crossing in the world (about 50 million people cross per year), making it necessary to upgrade the Otay Mesa border crossing, which is the main entry point for trade between Mexico and California.

Ambassador Barragan and Consul Gonzalez hope to improve both the transportation of goods and the crossing of people.

Meanwhile, the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce reported that Caltrans and SANDAG are continuing construction on the SR-11 Port of Entry Project, so closures in the following areas will be in place through today.

From 8 p.m. yesterday until 5 p.m. today there will be a full closure of West SR-905 at Siempre Viva Rd.

As an alternate route, you can take Siempre Viva Rd eastbound, turn left and continue north on Enrico Fermi Dr, use SR-11 125 westbound.
