For the fourth consecutive year, Mexico tops the list of the most violent cities in the world, according to the recent report presented by the
Citizen Council for Public Safety and Criminal Justice (CCSPJP)..

Of the 50 cities on this list, 18 are Mexican, while the rest are located in Brazil (11), Venezuela (6), the United States (5), South Africa (4), Colombia (2), Honduras (2), Puerto Rico (1) and Jamaica (1).

As if that were not enough, of the 18 Mexican cities included in the world ranking, seven are in the top 10, and two of them are from Baja California: Tijuana in second place and Ensenada in sixth place.

Jose Antonio Ortega, president of the CCSPJP, argued that 2019 and 2020 are the years of the "worst crime control policy", the same years that were already under the command of President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

In fact, with more than 34 thousand murder victims recorded in 2019 and 2020, the CCSPJP assured that these are the two most violent years in Mexico's history.
