Repaving work begins at Otay port of entry

From May 17 through May 20, repaving work will be carried out at the Otay border crossing

Through the Department of Territorial, Urban and Environmental Development (SDTUA) in collaboration with the Directorate of Municipal Works and Urban Infrastructure (DOIUM), the City of Tijuana announced that it will begin repaving work on traffic lanes at the Otay port of entry, which will begin this Monday, May 17, and will conclude on May 20.

These works will be done with asphalt mix and will have 7 cm of compact thickness in an area of 3 thousand square meters. This includes one thousand 300 square meters in area 1, which includes lanes 9 to 13 and one thousand 700 square meters in area 2, which includes lanes 4 to 8.

It is important to highlight that these activities will be carried out from 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. in order to reduce the impact on regular traffic, since this is the second busiest point of entry to the United States in Tijuana, and the third busiest commercially on the northern border.

Every day, an average of 14 thousand cars pass through this entrance, so the resurfacing work is intended to benefit and improve road safety for thousands of Tijuana residents who use these roads on a daily basis.

Drivers are reminded to stay informed through official media, since on many occasions they do not know the beginning or end of work or about the improvement that is being done in the roads they use daily, which could cause more vehicular traffic.
