Marina del Pilar and Olga Sanchez Cordero meet to discuss gender agenda

Marina del Pilar held a meeting with governors elect from other Mexican states to discuss the gender agenda that will take place in the coming years

This Wednesday, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, governor elect of Baja California, met with Olga Sánchez Cordero Davila, Secretary of Government (SEGOB), as well as with the rest of the governors that lead some of the entities that make up the Mexican nation, with the purpose of defining some guidelines for the future regarding the gender agenda.

Marina del Pilar pointed out that the high level meeting was fruitful, since it laid the foundations "to build together the policy in favor of women having access to a life free of violence".

The first woman to govern Baja California in its history stated that "there are many programs to develop", and gave as an example the Violet Squadron, which constitutes a timely response to the incidence of gender related crime, in a comprehensive manner through the security and justice institutions.

The meeting also addressed the need to address all antisocial behaviors, such as drug addiction, that lead to violence against women, as well as against girls, boys and young Baja Californians. For this reason, the unity of the governors will be vital to turn the approach into a political action of national scope.

"The call and leadership of the Secretary of the Interior is a call to close ranks to combat gender violence in all its forms," said Marina del Pilar noting that this is a guideline of the federal government, following the precepts of equality that are part of the Fourth Transformation".

Finally, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda announced that she will keep Baja Californians informed of the details of her visit to Mexico City, as she will address important points for the future of Baja California.
