Restrictions on crossings from Mexico into the United States continue at virtually all points of entry into the U.S., as border residents are well aware.

However, we sometimes hear from friends or acquaintances who claim to have crossed the border without an essential reason. Likewise, groups such as "Cómo está la línea" (How's the line) tell similar stories.

In fact, CBP published from its official website something that could explain these cases, where they inform that, ultimately, the decision of who and under what circumstances can cross into the United States will be up to CBP officers.

CBP officers make the final determination of whether travelers are admissible into the United States at the port of entry, taking into account the circumstance as a whole of each traveler. Contact the port of entry directly for further assistance.

If you would like to inquire whether the reason for which you wish to travel to the United States by land is valid, the CBP website invites you to submit your question at the following website. Here you can ask your question and they will tell you if your reason is really sufficient for you to cross into the neighboring country.

The travel restrictions will continue at least until September 21, when they will decide if the measures taken to deal with the coronavirus pandemic will be extended until October.
