Mayor Karla Ruiz initiates artistic lights project in Playas of Tijuana

After years without maintenance, the mayor inaugurated the first phase of the rehabilitation and renovation project

The mayor of Tijuana, Karla Ruiz Macfarland, has turned her attention to one of the most attractive and visited places by Tijuana residents and North American tourists: the boardwalk of Playas de Tijuana. This area known for having multiple cafes and space for vendors had been practically abandoned by the authorities of past administrations.

However, with Karla Ruiz as mayor, we found out that this Thursday the first part of a project focused on the rehabilitation and renovation of the boardwalk of Playas de Tijuana was inaugurated, with the purpose of improving the economy of the area and making it more attractive to visitors.

During the presentation event of the project, Ruiz Macfarland affirmed that the works that have been developed with "good will in other public administrations" must be kept in good conditions, to avoid their deterioration, as it happened in the case of the boardwalk, which since 2010 did not receive the proper attention.

In addition to this, he shared that an automated lighting project will be installed in the area of the Arches to make the night sight more attractive, but this is not all: an addition of green areas will be made.

This work, which will surely charm Tijuanans and residents of Playas of Tijuana, will have an investment of 6 million pesos. This effort is part of the petitions that merchants have been requesting to the municipal government for years and that were finally heard by the administration of the first female mayor of the municipality.
