The Ready Lane is a primary vehicle lane dedicated to all travelers entering the United States through land ports. In order to cross through this lane, you must have a Radio Frequency Identification RFID (RFID-enabled) making your inspection process easier.

WHTI compliant and RFID-enabled documents approved by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for use in this lane are as follows:

U.S. Passport Card

Enhanced Driver's License

Enhanced Tribal Card

Trusted Traveler Cards (SENTRI, NEXUS, Global Entry and Fast Cards)

Enhanced Permanent Resident Cards (PRC)

Enhanced Border Crossing Cards

Make sure you are aware of the Ready Lane entry times as they operate from various ports. All travelers in the vehicle, over the age of 16, must have an activated RFID card to use the lane. Anyone 15 years of age or younger may travel in the Ready Lane without an activated RFID card accompanied by adults who do have RFID cards.

SENTRI and NEXUS lanes only allow the use of SENTRI, NEXUS and Global Entry cards which can be obtained through the CBP Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) portal. In order to obtain a U.S. passport you must visit the Department of State website.

Enhanced Driver's Licenses (EDL) can be obtained at your local DMV or government offices in the states of Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont or Washington as well as in Canadian provinces such as British Columbia, Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba. Note: If you have applied for and are waiting for your Enhanced Driver's License (EDL), the receipt or temporary note you have been given does not qualify as a Ready Lane card.
