The “El Buen Samaritano” civil association is preparing several families from Michoacan to make their way to Tijuana.

It is estimated that in the coming months a total of 24 thousand migrants will arrive from that state, as people are fleeing from criminal groups that have stolen their land and are also in search of new job opportunities.

Although Tijuana is considered a violent city, that does not seem to matter to the people from Michoacan who will arrive at the border seeking asylum in the United States due to the prevailing situation of violence and insecurity.

The parish priest Gregorio López Gerónimo, founder of “El Buen Samaritano” indicated that there are many people from Morelia and Uruapan who are being detained by them to leave the state prepared.

It is a long process, because you cannot leave the state (of Michoacán) without a judicial complaint, with personal documents, with a letter of non-criminal record, with some letters of recommendation, with the US migration survey (of the MPP program), with a letter of understanding from a (U.S.) citizen relative, with the COVID-19 vaccination, all these requirements I ask of them, but I also give them a letter of recommendation from 'El Buen Samaritano AC', I apply all this protocol there (in Michoacan), so that they have the possibility of being accepted by migration".

The Michoacan migrants plan to arrive not only in Tijuana, but also in Ciudad Juarez, Reynosa, Nogales and Mexicali, to request asylum in the United States.
