Municipal President receives Toros of Tijuana after their championship in the Mexican Baseball League 2021

The Zaachila Cup, won by the Tijuana team on September 15 against the Leones de Yucatan, was presented at the meeting

Karla Patricia Ruiz Macfarland, president of the XXIII Tijuana City Hall, held a meeting with the directors of Club Toros de Tijuana, where they presented the Zaachila Cup, obtained in their second championship of the Mexican Baseball League (LMB), in the 96th edition of the championship and which they won against the Leones de Yucatan in a memorable series that closed in a seventh game in Tijuana last September 15.

"I feel very excited and proud of everyone who works at Club Toros of Tijuana, of those who coordinate the team and of the members who put all their effort to win the title of Champions. I believe that in the last game the people of Tijuana celebrated double this season, since this was the night of Independence Day, the celebration was worth it seeing the team's last out", said the mayor.

For his part, the club's general director, Antonio Cano Jiménez, said that, as promoters of the sport in this border region, it gives great satisfaction to bring the 2021 LMB Championship Cup, because all the work paid off by making history by winning four of the seven games played, and finishing champions against Leones de Yucatan, a team from the southern zone.

Cano Jiménez recognized and congratulated Ruiz Macfarland for the work done, since she has left an important precedent in the history of Tijuana, not only because of the gender aspect, but also because she has demonstrated that what matters is talent in this type of exercise, that although it was a short administration, it was solid, forceful and clear.

It is worth mentioning that the Zaachila Cup is originally from the state of Oaxaca, made of silver with an obsidian base, which represents the pentagon or home, is a replica of a pre-Hispanic piece, which has a hummingbird on top that reflects governance, ie the sense of order of things and have all of the work done by the Mexican Baseball League structured, so it stays in the home of Los Toros.
