During the daily report shared by the Government of Baja California, the Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico announced that due to the increase of active COVID-19 cases, Tijuana has entered the Top 20 municipalities with the highest number of active cases nationwide.

The total number of active cases in this municipality is 582, which places it at number 20 in this ranking. Mexicali is also on this list, currently ranked number 11 with 630 active cases.

Pérez Rico assured that we are currently seeking to reduce this increase in active cases derived from the third wave of infections, mainly with the help of the population by maintaining and protecting everyone's health, following health regulations, as well as continuing with vaccination schedules for those who have not completed their vaccinations.

The Secretary added that next week the first doses will be applied for those who did not have the opportunity to receive it in time or those who have been convinced to receive the vaccine. Although the biological vaccine to be applied is not yet confirmed, the approximate number of citizens expected to receive this first phase of the scheme is 40 thousand.
