During the daily COVID-19 report shared by the State Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, he announced that both active cases and the effective reproduction rate in Baja California has increased to 1.25, when ideally it should be below 1.0.

All municipalities in Baja California have an effective reproduction rate above 1.0, with Rosarito being the highest with 1.58, followed by Tecate with 1.35, Tijuana with 1.32, San Quintin with 1.28, Ensenada with 1.28 (this one lowered its rate), Mexicali with 1.13 (remains the same) and San Felipe with 1.0.

The increase in cases has resulted in the 3 largest municipalities in the state (Mexicali, Tijuana and Ensenada) remaining among the top 20 municipalities with the highest number of active cases nationwide. Mexicali is in third place with 965 active cases, Tijuana in fourth place with 881 and Ensenada in eleventh place with 574 active cases.

According to the change in the method for the application of COVID-19 tests, the result is a number never seen before during the pandemic in the State, since from the sentinel model where a sample was taken from a population and from there it was generalized to the entire community, now the tests are performed to all patients who come to the clinics with symptoms.
