More than 3,600 current Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in Baja, California

The number of active Covid-19 cases continues to rise fast, with 468 new cases verified in just 21 hours, bringing the total number of active cases to 3,608, according to the scientific committee for pandemic prevention and control.

Tijuana has the most active cases (1,438), followed by Mexicali (1,271), Ensenada (549), Tecate (161), Rosarito (97), San Quintin (74), and San Felipe (18).

At this stage in the pandemic, the age group most afflicted is those between 20 and 39 years old, with 1,809 cases, followed by those between 40 and 59 years old with 1,142 cases, adults over 60 years old with 355 cases, and those aged zero to 19 years old with 302 cases. Néstor Hernández Milan, the Head of Evaluation and Follow-up, highlighted that the most severe cases are elderly persons who have comorbidities and have not received a vaccination.

The Ministry of Health has a Covid occupancy of 82.56 percent and a general occupancy of 53.09 percent; IMSS reports a Covid occupancy of 79.4 percent and a general occupancy of 58.52 percent. A total of 3000 608 active cases are being treated in the entity, with 3000 299 being treated as outpatients and 211 requiring hospitalization. Currently, 98 patients are on a ventilator, with 86 percent having not been vaccinated against COVID-19.
