The Cereso de Mexicali's inmates are moved to El Hongo

While they are in seclusion, their circumstances will improve

Ma Elena Andrade Ramrez, the Commissioner of the State Penitentiary System, reported that 116 individuals were transported from the Cereso de Mexicali to the Hongo jail. All of this is part of a well-coordinated operation involving all three levels of government.

After emphasizing that the Governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, has a responsibility to work in full respect for the human rights of those deprived of liberty, the Commissioner stated that the Mexicali Social Reintegration Center is currently 60 percent overcrowded, necessitating the move.

Similarly, he urged relatives of those who moved to faith that their loved ones' situations would improve while in jail.

The transferred individuals deprived of liberty were carried in two buses and two vans of the Penitentiary System for numerous offenses, including homicide, against health, kidnappings, and possession of weapons for the sole use of the army.

Because elements of the National Guard heavily guarded the vehicles, the Secretary of Citizen Security, the State Prosecutor's Office, the Municipal Public Security Directorate of Mexicali, and the State Police of Security and Penitentiary Custody, the operation revealed inter-institutional coordination between the various security dependencies.

Finally, Ma. Elena Andrade asked the relatives of individuals who had their liberty taken away to visit the Mexicali Social Reintegration Center and Hongo's social work areas, where they would be given the necessary information.
