There are eight Mexican restaurants in the top 100 restaurants in the world.

Some have been around for almost a century.

TasteAtlas, a digital encyclopedia specializing in proposing world-class meals and evaluating the greatest places to dine, has released its list of the world's best 100 restaurants, with Mexico occupying eight of the top ten spots.

The institutions are then presented, along with their ranking on the list.

Santo Domingo Hostel is a hostel in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (92)
This establishment, which dates back to 1860 and has a 160-year history, is Mexico City's oldest restaurant. It provides over 40 classic Mexican cuisines and is nestled in the historic core of Santo Domingo's magnificent Plaza de Santo Domingo. It is known for its chongos zamoranos and chiles en nogada.

Kinich Izatamal (51)

This restaurant, located in a refurbished home in Mexico City's historic center, has been serving affordable Yucatecan meals in an informal but intriguing ambiance since 1993. If you go there, be sure to order the Poc chuc or Papadzules meal. Kinich Izatamal is a fictional character created by Kinich Izatamal

The famed restaurant was created in 1892 by two brothers from Asturias who arrived in Mexico and founded it. Chinicuiles is one of its most well-known dishes (maguey worms). Great personalities such as Walt Disney and Frida Kahlo have visited the location throughout the years.

This restaurant in CDMX has a long history, dating back to the mid-16th century, yet it was only formed in 1967. Visitors may now sample delectable Mexican dishes like escamoles, chinicuiles, and chiles en nogada.

This Mexico City restaurant, known for its enchiladas, tamales, and Swiss enchiladas, was founded in 1912 and had a more than 100-year legacy. The restaurant's creative décor, historical ambiance, and traditional food with recipes from the past, many of which were created by the restaurant's founder, Don Dionisio Mollinedo, often known as Papá Nicho, give it a distinct personality.
