The Ministry of Economy and Innovation improves relations with Baja California's business chambers

The conference focused on sustainable mobility and information technologies

The Secretary of Economy and Innovation, Kurt Honold Morales, announced that an intensive agenda of work is being carried out with chambers and state agencies in order to reinforce the experience and knowledge of chambers and organizations to address situations that inhibit competitiveness. As a result, he spoke this Thursday with the Association of Industrialists of the Otay Table (AIMO) and the National Chamber of the Electronic, Telecommunicative and Information Technology (CANIETI).

During his speech at the AIMO's monthly meeting, the secretary spoke about the importance of promoting sustainable mobility projects, such as attracting investments in vehicle manufacturing, new forms of public transportation to facilitate worker transfers, and projects that allow for faster cross-border flow. To accomplish so, he collaborates with the federal government as well as US border crossing and customs officials.

She noted energy infrastructure projects such as the Federal Electricity Commission's (CFE) combined cycle plants and solar facility, as well as the expansion of the ports of Ensenada and Sauzal.

Honold Morales, speaking on talent development, underlined the need of collaborating with technical schools and universities to retrain people who can work on higher-value projects and earn greater incomes. As a result of partnerships with creative firms like Amazon and Apple, a training curriculum on issues like programming and "Cloud computing" will be available to supplement human resource training.

She told the CANIETI members that Information Technology (IT) is a top priority in the present state administration, as evidenced by the Digital Agency for Public Innovation, which aims to improve citizen service by automating procedures to cut costs and response times. It is also hoped that technological advancements would widen the horizons of the state's micro, small, medium, and big businesses, allowing them to expand their markets and improve their competitiveness.

Finally, he mentioned the creative industries, which will be aided in leveraging existing expertise and turning it into profitable enterprises, as well as attracting additional audiovisual projects to Baja California.
