The inspection of federal projects in Tijuana was carried out this Tuesday, February 1st, by the Baja California government led by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda in coordination with the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communication, and Transportation (SICT).

Among these projects, work on the Otay II Port of Entry is most significant. This will bring notable and direct benefit to the Baja Californian industry and economy, since the binational crossing is key within the US-Mexico dynamic.

Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, Secretary of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territory Redesign, stated that among the actions undertaken on Tuesday, there is direct dialogue with industry representatives to bring transparency to the work carried out by the government.

Subsequently, and with collaboration of the Tijuana Municipal Council, there was a follow-up meeting where general matters of the binational projects were discussed, including the status of agreements made with the Federal Commission of Electricity (CFE) as well as general subjects such as rights to life and property regularization.

At the same time, important key matters were discussed regarding the railways that cross into Tijuanense territory, which represent a mobility asset in the most populated city of the Baja California state.

Furthermore, Espinoza Jaramillo informed that details for the World Congress of Vine and Wine, the summit event of the global wine industry that will be held in the Ensenada municipality next November, were reviewed.

The state official acknowledged the participation of Alejandra de Gyves, deputy director of Trust Supervision; Rogelio Rivero Márquez, general director of Road Development; Jorge Nuño, Infrastructure Subsecretary of SICT, and Erika García, director of Intermodal Projects.

It should be noted that Tuesday’s visit also had the active participation of the state head of SICT, Georgina Wilhelmy, who has considerable expertise in interinstitutional coordination of infrastructure projects, as well as Jorge Gutiérrez, head of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Institute, and Kurt Honold, secretary of Economy and Innovation of Baja California, who all shared key substantial matters in their respective areas.
