David Álvarez, District 80 candidate in San Diego, is looking to build a university in Chula Vista

Álvarez is known for actively supporting his community

On March 3, 2022, in the famous 3rd Avenue in Chula Vista, David Álvarez, San Diego ex-councilor and now candidate for Assembly District 80, held a press conference where he spoke about his plans to win the election.

Rudy López, San Ysidro School District representative, National City Mayor, Alejandra Sotelo Solís, and other politicians and community members were all present at the event to support Álvarez.

López stated that when David Álvarez was San Diego councilor he took action to improve educational facilities and remembered that, thanks to him, a 90-year old library was able to be replaced with a new one. He also stated that it is a pity that so few people take education into account. “David also supports the community college system,” he said.

What truly makes David different is that he really listens to what the residents say and acts in their best interest, not in his. I truly believe that he is the best candidate for District 80.

As highlighted by people who spoke about Álvarez, education is very important to him and one of his most important proposals, and the reason he decided to start his campaign in Chula Vista, is because he will look for financing to build a university in Chula Vista.

“Our candidates should be a reflection of citizens’ voices, not the voice of a select few or special groups,” David Álvarez said when it was his turn to speak. He also stated that he was worried about California’s future, which is why he is doing this campaign.

Furthermore, he regretted that the coronavirus pandemic had affected children’s learning and education, which is why he believes it is necessary, like never before, to invest in education and support teachers and schools. “I represent the people who live here,” he finished.

Among other things, the District 80 Assembly candidate’s proposals have several focal points which he has already worked on from time to time: environment, public security, economic plans, initiatives to improve the community, and financing of education and the arts.
