One of the states where he has had a notable approval rating drop is in Baja California

President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador is one of the most popular presidents ever with the most support. However, a series of failings have caused a drop in his popularity making him comparable in sympathy levels to Enrique Peña Nieto at the end of his term.

In fact, in the most recent poll by Mitofsky pollster, people were asked what their perceptions regarding security during Andrés Manuel’s administration was and most people, 55% answered that it was worse, 23% said it was the same, and only 22% said it was better.

It should be noted that this poll made by Mitofsky and El Economista was concluded in February 2022. Moreover, it should also be noted that from these results they were able to compare the November-February trimester of AMLO’s third year with the ones of Mexico’s last six presidents’ approval ratings during their six-year term.

When Enrique Peña Nieto was president during this same period of time, his approval rating was 61.3%. Likewise, Felipe Calderón's was 53.4%; Vicente Fox's was 53.6%; Ernesto Zedillo's was 64.4%; and Carlos Salinas's was 75.5%. Right now, the current President of Mexico's approval rating is 60.7%.

That means that, in a few months, there has been a considerable drop in López Obrador’s approval ratings. In fact, in November of last year he had an approval rating of 65.2% which had been 60.7% in February 2021.

This means that when it comes to approval ratings, currently AMLO is above Felipe Calderón and Vicente Fox, according to the pollster, while Peña Nieto, Ernesto Zedillo, and Carlos Salinas had a higher approval rating during this same period of time.

The states where he has had a bigger drop in approval ratings were Morelos, Tlaxcala, Baja California, Guanajuato, and the State of Mexico. In fact, in Baja California he had a drop of -5.6 points compared to January.
