Baja Californian Government advises about crime prevention to avoid being a victim

The Secretariat of Citizen Security is looking to create awareness about self-care culture

The Government of Baja California, in cooperation with the Secretariat of Citizen Security of the state (SSCBC), is looking to implement measures so that Baja Californians can be makers of their own safety and self-scare. This is so that they don’t become easy targets for criminals and avoid becoming victims of crime.

Through the human teams that are part of the managements of Crime Prevention, Citizen Participation, and Social Crime Prevention, municipalities are approached to reinforce measures that will allow Baja Californians to know what to do to detect risk alerts.

With these approaches, crime theory is explained which requires the union of three elements: crime motive, unfavorable opportunities, and a favorable victim since criminals make a cost-benefit analysis to obtain the best benefit at the lowest cost possible.

In this crime assessment, criminals analyze the benefits of what they are going to get from their victims. They also take into account the risks, knowing that the highest cost they'll pay is to be detained, pay a fine, or end up in jail.

The SSCBC is counting on the will of the community at large so that they can be coproducers of their own safety and self-care so that they know what the dangers they are exposed to are and deter them.
