Baja Window to the South reveals everything this wonderful state has to offer from its music, gastronomy and multiculturalism to the things one may not have heard of such as fashion, what makes it happen, and who promotes it.

To talk about this subject, Ana Díaz de Gurría was a guest, who started her fashion journey when she saw her widowed mother tailoring party and wedding dresses; something she did for over 30 years. Ana joined her as an apprentice and later became her partner when she was 14 years old.

Ana is the director of InnovaModa, a platform that is looking to promote the fashion industry in Baja California. Likewise, they are also creating opportunities for new designers, models, photographers, stylists, makeup artists, and more. She added that, besides the traditional fashion that is used in Mexico, the new designers of Baja California use these ideas and resources from the Mexican style and give it a modern twist.

She added that Baja California, being a multicultural state, has influences from other parts of the world such as the US and Europe, which has caused it to have its unique style. These new artists, and those already established in the region, have become very united, in order to show the world of the talent that resides here.

Díaz highlighted that two InnovaModa designers were chosen in Mexican showcases that took place in Milan and Barcelona, as well as in Guadalajara for Intermoda, Latin America’s biggest fashion show. She said that one of the most recent fashion trends in Tijuana is chic style, which is easy to use in every occasion, mixed with an urban style, which is more common with young people.
