In March 2022, Residente released his single “This is Not America”, a song that speaks about the history of colonization and slavery. The music video won the Grand Prix award in the “Entertainment Lions For Music” category presented by Cannes Lions Festival.

The video’s direction was handled by French director, Gregory Ohrel. The music video’s scenes were filmed in Tijuana as it was easier for Residente, who lives in Los Angeles, California, to get there. Paco Mufote was part of the cast.

On his social media, the French director dedicated a few words to the actor who lost his life, together with his co-star, in a car accident during the filming of the show Chosen One by Netflix, in the state of Baja California Sur.

In his message, he remembers Juan Francisco’s role who played Víctor Jara in Residente’s music video. He also wrote that he shares the award given by Cannes Lions Festival with the whole cast and crew since they made it possible to complete this project.
