Governor Marina del Pilar readies back-to-school for Baja Californian high schools

The governor stated that they are working to make back to school safe for everyone

On Monday August 15, high schools in Baja California will return from their vacation period. This means that more than 128,000 students will begin the 2022-2023 school year. Due to this, Marina del Pilar, Baja California Governor, stated that they are working so that back to school is safe for all teenagers.

During the 38th edition of “Wednesday Morning Press Conference with Marina del Pilar” in Mexicali, she highlighted the historic investment in air conditioning equipment that has been installed in state school facilities, especially in Mexicali and its valley. This was also carried out in the municipality of San Felipe. This is because these are the zones in Baja California with the highest temperatures.

“I want to recognize the Secretariat of Education because during these last few months they made a historic investment in equipment, specifically in air conditioners, something which hadn’t been done in previous administrations,” she stated.

She also said that state authorities carried out intensive work during the vacation period in order to prepare each basic level school, which will all begin regular activities starting Monday, August 29. More than 600,000 students will go back to school in each of the seven state municipalities.

Lastly, Secretary of Education of Baja California, Gerardo Arturo Solís Benavides stated that cooling equipment investment in classrooms is over $45 million pesos, which is why there are currently more than 711 air conditioners in the state’s hottest areas. He emphasized that vandalism in the current vacation period was low with only 13 recorded in the state. This will allow a great number of students to go back to school.
