100,000 lobsters are consumed every year due to delicious Puerto Nuevo cuisine

This dish was created in Rosarito and still maintains its tradition and original recipe

Rosarito is a Baja Californian municipality located in the Mexican Pacific coastline right next to Tijuana and is 20 miles away from the US border and this border city. It is one of the greatest tourist destinations of the state; a perfect place for surfing.

Surfers arrive every year to local beaches looking for the perfect waves, and in this coast, you can find the best waves of the region in some of the surfers’ favorite spots such as Kilómetro 38.

This municipality is known as the birthplace of the world-renowned Puerto Nuevo style lobster, which is fried and served with rice, refried beans, and handmade flour tortillas. 100,000 lobsters are served annually in Puerto Nuevo.

Rosarito is mainly visited by Americans who enjoy the bars and clubs that are found near the beach. Baja Studios, meanwhile, has been used as a set for several films and shows such as Titanic, Pearl Harbor, Selena, and Fear The Walking Dead. In Rosarito, you can also find the Baja California Convention Center that has capacity for 11,000 people.
