During today’s, November 9, 2022, weekly press conference, Governor Marina del Pilar confirmed that the body of a 16-year-old teenager identified as Rebeca was found; she was traveling by car with her brother.

This incident occurred at Cañón del Pato in Colonia Chihuahua, in the city of Tijuana. The car that the two siblings were driving was swept away by water currents, caused by the storm that happened yesterday November 8, 2022.

The Secretary of the Interior of Baja California confirmed that the body found today is 16-year-old Rebeca. On the other hand, the body of the young man who was accompanying her, who is also her 22-year-old brother, hasn’t been found yet.

The governor regretted the incidents that occurred yesterday, adding that they are still trying to locate the young man’s body. In addition, she said that coordinated efforts between federal, state, and municipal governments will continue in order to resolve the issues caused by the rains. Catalino Zavala stated that the loss of life of these two young people was a very unfortunate tragedy.

The rains which started approximately at 11:00, yesterday, caused an endless number of damages in the city. Streets became congested due to traffic lights that stopped working, making traffic last for hours. Around 19 vehicles had to be towed; several neighborhoods were left without any power and around 57 floods have been counted in the lower areas of the city, as well as the appearance of sinkholes.
