Chula Vista is known for its great gastronomic diversity and the amount of time they have been in business serving food in the border area. One of these restaurants says goodbye after 34 years of providing Greek food to residents and tourists’ bellies.

Zorbas Greek Taverna and Bar of Chula Vista has announced on their Facebook page that that they will serve their last dish on Sunday, December 11, 2022 due to the fact that Mr. Koutzimbis, the restaurant’s chef, and his wife decided to retire after more than 3 decades in business.

A part of the message on their Facebook page reads:

For a small business to thrive and succeed through the ups & downs these past 34 years is something to be extremely proud of, and we definitely are! It has been our pleasure to serve you, grow with you. party with you, and to be a part of your community! We are humbled that so many of you have loved our restaurant and we were able to service our community as long as we had. We could not have flourished & succeeded without all of you, our most loyal customers! We hope that we provided you with much more than just food, but a place that felt like home and a place where you will cherish all the memories you and your loved ones had made here! Best of wishes to Mr. & Mrs. Koutzimbis on their retirement!! Don’t forget to stop by and say goodbye!

At this restaurant they served dishes such as marinated lamb, moussaka, spanakopita, souvlaki chicken, desserts such as baklava and kadaifi, and they also had a buffet with several Greek foods which were offered only on certain days of the week; this was one of the public’s favorites. Zorbas has been serving their gastronomy in Chula Vista since 1989.

According to CBS 8, Zorbas management also announced that most of their commercial equipment would be sold in an auction scheduled at the restaurant on December 13 from 12 PM to 4 PM, which will end on Wednesday, December 14 at 01:37 PM.
