Marina del Pilar administration presents progress regarding family economy

Baja California will allocate a budget of 73 billion pesos to key actions to develop the state in 2023

The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda stated that Baja California is showing clear evidence of economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic thanks to a state strategy focused on the joint efforts of state and federal authorities as well as the working class and investors.

In the 56th edition of “Wednesday Morning Press Conference with Marina del Pilar” which took place in the city of Ensenada, the state governor pointed out that the state shows a significant rate of formal job creation that is being added to the low poverty work rate, progress in including women in the workforce, and sustained economic growth that increased 3.2% during the first two trimesters of the year.

Marina del Pilar pointed out that a group of experts of the non-profit organization, Mexico Cómo Vamos stated that the state traffic lights regarding formal job creation and work poverty have remained green, which means results have been positive.

“This recognition shows us that we are on the right path and commits us to continue working with our heart above all to promote the wellbeing of all of our state’s families,” the governor highlighted.

On the other hand, Marina del Pilar pointed out that security, justice, social welfare, and infrastructure will be the public policies that will be strengthened by the 2023 State Expense Budget.

She highlighted that state income and public investment without raising taxes or state rights will be improved. Among other things, there was an increase of 8.61% in federal participation thanks to the coordination and joint and permanent work by the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

In addition to this, there is also the growth of resources regarding Ramo 33 for social public projects by 9.42%, which is why in 2023 there will be a budget of more than 73 billion pesos, of which 13.4 billion are the state’s own income.

The governor highlighted that this budget also includes support for the strengthening of the municipalities of San Quintin and San Felipe on several areas such as country development and the promotion of more and better measures to handle the gendered violence against women alert.

It is a budget with a gender perspective that will strengthen the Center for the Justice of Women (CEJUM), it will maintain aid for single moms and women in a vulnerable state, and will increase the delivery of Ilumina Tu Día cards, pensions for seniors, and the delivery of hot breakfasts in schools.

“When we talk about the 2023 budget, we are talking about the fact that we have a gender perspective. This is not just talk or good intentions, it means a budget commitment, since we managed to create an increase of 330% in this area in comparison to this year, as we went from a little bit over 649 million to more than 2 billion,” the state governor added.

The governor also led more than 1,500 deliveries of aid to people with disabilities in collaboration with the government of Mexico. At this event, Governor Marina del Pilar pointed out that she is working together with federal authorities to provide 2,800 bimonthly pesos to all people with disabilities to strengthen their quality of life.
