New aqueduct system will improve water supply in the coastal area: Marina del Pilar

The governor stated that this venting system allows the capability of tubes to carry water to be boosted, especially in areas where it needs more pressure to conduct the liquid

Today, December 16, 2022, the governor of Baja California was present at the installation of a system at the Colorado River-Tijuana Aqueduct, which is looking to improve water supply for families in coastal areas and, this way, guarantee their access to water.

The state governor explained that it is a venting system that will allow the capability of tubes to carry water to be boosted, especially in areas where, due to their topography, they require greater pressure to bring the water, where it is finally stored at the El Carrizo dam.

Regarding this, the head of SEPROA, Armando Fernández Samaniego stated that this project was carried out without affecting the aqueduct’s operation, as it was carried out when it had been stopped, something that occurred due to maintenance by the Federal Commission of Electricity (CFE).

“We took advantage of time to create ways of improving the service. This stoppage wasn’t decided by us, but we decided to get something positive out of it, working to benefit people,” the state official stated.

The secretary explained that, with this work, air was eliminated from the pipes which has a direct impact on the capability and speed at which the liquid arrives in the coastal area of the state, especially in the municipalities of Tijuana, Playas de Rosarito, and Ensenada.

“Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda has instructed us to complete these efforts in order to increase water supply in the state, and with these actions, we are doing it,” the state official concluded.
