San Diego woman travels to Turkey looking for her parents trapped under rubble

The building where they lived collapsed and their family is looking for them

The earthquake that struck Turkey in the early morning of Sunday was followed by strong aftershocks that caused the deaths of thousands of people, dozens of thousands were wounded, and an undefined number of people have gone missing under the rubble. Due to this, a San Diego woman traveled to this country on Monday afternoon to look for her parents.

Her husband spoke with a local media outlet where he claimed that the only way he is finding out about the Turkey’s current situation is through news, as he finds other outlets untrustworthy.

Rana is the San Diegan woman who traveled to Istanbul and then went to the city of Antakya, where she hopes to find her parents. This is because the 4 story building where they lived collapsed due to the earthquake; family members have shared videos where one can see the collapsed structure, while explaining the situation.

These same relatives claim that they heard her father’s voice; however, they don’t know anything about her mother. They have described the situation as a “desperate race” as they are looking for signs of life. However, the destruction caused by the earthquake has made things difficult for the rescue teams.
