The Marina del Pilar administration will bring internet to all basic education schools in Baja California

Governor Marina del Pilar continues to join efforts to provide a better education for the children and teenagers of Baja California

The Marina del Pilar administration continues to strengthen the state’s education, providing internet access to basic education schools in Baja California which will improve the ability of schools to provide better, high-quality education for boys, girls, and teenagers of the state.

The state governor explained that the program promoted by the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, will give and provide telecommunication non-profit services to move forward regarding the right to access of information and communication technologies, including a functional internet connection and network.

Marina del Pilar highlighted that in all of Mexico, the Federal Commission of Electricity (CFE) will install 2,800 antennas to benefit 18,000 communities and around 6,4 million Mexicans, which will mean an essential step towards inclusion and the development of better life conditions.

Marina del Pilar added that the state of Baja California has been benefited with 210 connectivity spots, which are being installed in basic education schools, as well as 73 school centers that are located in remote areas, away from urban centers. This will bring free connectivity to improve learning and general education development.

For his part, the Secretary of Education of Baja California, Gerardo Solís Benavides, explained that this program in Baja California is carried out through three digital displays. The first will be the CFE posts that will be used as shared network connectivity outlets; the second will be ADSL connectivity which was installed by company Telnor; and the third one is through satellite links in areas with no telecommunication services coverage.

The state official added that with these joint efforts, the state and the federation are looking to integrate the population with internet technology, and with that, work on the guidelines of the New Mexican School, which will be characterized by the values of equality, equity, and solidarity, among others. In addition, he claimed that they will continue with the joint efforts to expand coverage to public schools.
