Baja Californian pride! Alondra Estrada prepares for the World Fencing Championship

The athlete is currently preparing at INDE BC facilities in Mexicali

Baja Californian fencer Alondra Estrada is currently preparing to compete at this year’s Pan-American Fencing Cadet and Young Championship in Colombia and the World Championship in Italy.

Being this her first experience as a representative of Mexico, the 16-year-old young girl is currently ranked #1 in the female foil category in Elder Cadet, which is why, proud of her accomplishments, she is ready to bet on something bigger.

Currently, the athlete is preparing at INDE BC in Mexicali and is ready to travel to the competition in Bogotá which will take place from February 28 to March 6. The World Championship, meanwhile, will take place at Milan in April.

Proud and happy of qualifying, Alondra Estrada will travel with her partners Cruz María Rodríguez, Ángela Hernández, and María Fernanda Montero, who will also participate in the Pan-American competition.

Hard work at the Development Program of Sports Talents in the Institute of Sports and Physical Culture of Baja California has made the athlete want to reach her goals with even greater strength; she, however, has admitted that she feels nervous, because it is a new experience.

Claiming that her training is going well, Alondra learns from her partners Victoria Meza and Jimena Torres who help her to correct and improve her strategies.
