Tijuana native chef will participate in important 17th Trofeo Thierry Blouet Gastronomic Competition

This competition is approved by one of the most influential gastronomic institutes in the world: Académie Culinaire de France

Tijuana will participate this year in the Concurso Gastronómico XVII Trofeo Thierry Blouet (17th Trofeo Thierry Blouet Gastronomic Competition), an important competition which will take place in Puerto Vallarta, whose goal is to award gastronomic Mexican talents and give an opportunity to young Mexican cooks and chefs to demonstrate their talents.

The competition is approved by one of the most influential gastronomic institutes in the world: Académie Culinaire de France in France. This competition consists of creating a three-course menu with seven main ingredients.

It should be noted that on the day of this competition, the chefs who will supervise the kitchen and observe the development of the participants will be revealed. Moreover, the competition focuses mainly on young people with experience.

The one in charge of representing Tijuana at this important competition will be Esteban Jhofua, a Tijuana native and student of Universidad UNUS. The 19-year-old has been training hard with Chef Martín San Román.

This competition will take place on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana; the award ceremony will take place in Mexico City and the formal dinner at Vatel Club México. It should be noted that the winner will represent Mexico at the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs World Competition in Turkey.

Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is a historic competition, as its origins have been traced back all the way to 1248 where food and wine lovers gathered to talk and show off the great culinary traditions of the world.
