Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio wins the Oscar for Best Animated Feature

Mexican director and scriptwriter, Guillermo del Toro, won the Oscar for Best Animated Film for his version of Pinocchio. This film has been praised for the originality of its format as well as its story. It should be noted that his film The Shape of Water (2017) won two Oscars: Best Film and Best Director.

The Mexican director thanked his deceased parents, wife, children, and Netflix. He stated that animation is cinema and that it is very important that it keeps being talked about by big production companies. This is Guillermo’s third Oscar.

It should be noted that this is not the only important award won by Pinocchio, as it also won the Producers Guild of America Award and the Annie Award, which is the Oscar equivalent, but it is focused on animated productions.

In addition, at the beginning of the year, he won a Golden Globe Award. It should be noted that the work for this film was very elaborated and complex which meant that it was also awarded by the Visual Effects Society.

At these awards, it won in the Outstanding Visual Effects for an Animated Feature, Outstanding Created Environment in an Animated Feature, and Outstanding Animated Character in an Animated Feature categories. Undoubtedly, Pinocchio has become a phenomenon thanks to the creativity of Guillermo del Toro.
