Mural is painted in Downtown Tijuana to celebrate Selena Quintanilla’s birthday

Legendary singer Selena Quintanilla continues to be remembered by millions of people around the world, especially in the Latino community due to her impact on music and popular culture.

As such, celebrating what would have been her 52nd birthday, Tijuana native artists created a mural in a street in Downtown Tijuana where one can see her face alongside famous dinosaurs such as Reptar and Yoshi. This work of art has caught the attention of pedestrians.

It should be noted that this artwork made in her honor was created by Naitoreido, who tends to do this type of artworks and subsequently shares it on social media.

The tragic death of Selena by Yolanda Saldívar, her friend and former manager, continues to be a painful memory for many. The singer was murdered when she was 23 years old on March 31, 1995, after being shot by Saldívar. She was sentenced to life in person with a possibility of parole after 30 years.

Despite the grief surrounding her death, the life and work of Selena Quintanilla continues to be remembered and celebrated. Two weeks after her death, then Texas governor, George W. Bush, declared April 16 as Selena Day in Texas, in honor of her legacy.

Since then, this day has become a day to commemorate her life and music around the world. The creation of this mural in Tijuana is only one example of the impact that Selena has had in popular culture.

Her music, style, and personality still inspires a lot of people and her legacy is still alive. Despite the fact that two decades have passed since her death, her legacy is still delighting others and her music is still being played around the world.
