Family of minor missing in San Diego claims that she is in Tijuana

They fear she has been a victim of human trafficking

A San Diegan family is looking for their 17-year-old daughter Melisa, who went missing more than a week ago. According to her mother, Blanca Reyes, the young woman was taken to Tijuana by a 25-year-old man.

Melisa’s parents noticed she was missing when the young woman did not go to class and did not answer her telephone or social media messages. Worried, they started to look for their daughter and discovered that all of her belongings were home.

“I have no idea… That person, I don’t know what kind of ideas he put in her head. I know that she wants to come back to me,” the mother said on a TV show.

Melisa’s family had met this man, who showed an interest in starting a relationship with her, but he was rejected because of the age gap. However, a few days later, Melisa went missing without a trace.

Blanca Reyes asked her community to help her find her daughter who, according to her, wants to come back home. Her mother is filled with anguish and consternation, and she fears for her daughter’s safety.

Local authorities have opened an investigation to find Melisa, and asked for help from the community in order to gather information that could help them locate her. The family, for their part, expects to receive news soon and hopes that their daughter comes back home safe and sound.
