Baja Californian Ericka Luque wins gold medal in Karate Series A World Championship

With an impeccable performance with zero points against, the Ensenada native wins gold at the Karate Series A World Championship

Ericka Luque, Baja Californian athlete, had an amazing performance at the Series A World Championship of the World Karate Federation (WKF) which took place in Vancouver, Canada. Ericka had a perfect performance as she did not receive any points against.

Led by trainers, Ramsés Rodríguez Arce and Estefanía García Álvarez, Ericka won in the Female Kumite -61kg category, without receiving a single point against in any of her matches.

Getting favorable results against the United States and Canada, the Ensenada native managed to get into the finals and defeated her strong rival from Belgium 2-0.

“We thank the support and the assistance received by the head of INDE, Érik Isaac Morales Elvira, as well as the president of FEMEKA, Samantha Desciderio Olvera. Thanks to the promotion from both sides and the athletes’ talents, we were present at this event and got a great result for Baja California,” Rodríguez said.

For her part, García Álvarez stated: “We are very happy and proud of our athlete Ericka Luque, who managed to get onto that podium in first place. She also got 0 points against, something that is very relevant as it speaks of the amazing quality she has as a karate fighter.”

Ericka Luque’s results at the WKF Karate Series A World Championship

First round: Mexico – United States 9-0.
Second round: Mexico – Canada 7-0.
Third round: Mexico - Canada 6-0.
Final: Mexico - Belgium 2- 0.
