Marina del Pilar heads opening of new overpass at Puente Casa Blanca in Tijuana

The quality of life of Tijuana native families is improved by the implementation of more and better infrastructure in Baja California

The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, led the opening of the new overpass at Puente Casa Blanca-Corredor 2000, decreasing waiting times from 45 to 5 minutes, which will be going northbound to the Otay area and southbound to Playas de Rosarito. This project will make it easier for thousands of families that live in eastern Tijuana to move and travel.

Marina del Pilar informed to media outlets and Baja Californian society that it has an investment of over 200 million pesos, and that this construction has been progressing at a greater speed thanks to the supervision by the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territory Redesign (SIDURT) and the commitment of the construction company.

The state governor highlighted that this new bridge will be completed in around a month, and it is part of the “RESPIRA. Less Traffic, More Life” program whose goal is to have people spend more quality time with their loved ones and decrease their time spent at traffic jams so they can get to their homes, schools, or jobs.

For his part, the head of SIDURT, Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, pointed out that this new overpass has three lanes per direction, entry and exit ramps, preventive signs, and median strips, as well as illumination in lateral walls and painting on the road.

The state official said that this project is still needing some additional details on the bridge’s upper area, which has bearing slabs, tire bumps, and steel handrails, all of which will be polished so that the road can be opened completely soon.

To conclude, Espinoza Jaramillo recommended drivers to respect preventive signs and speed limits and to drive carefully in order to avoid accidents that could create traffic in the area.
