Travel on the San Diego Trolley for free on Wednesday

Public transportation in San Diego will be free tomorrow

Public transportation in San Diego Country will be free on Wednesday, October 4. This was announced by authorities and they revealed that this Free Ride Day is thanks to a peculiar collaboration due to Clean Air Day in California.

This alliance, between the Metropolitan Transit System, the North County Transit District, and the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) authorities, stated that all bus, trolley, COASTER, and SPRINTER services will be free on Wednesday.

San Diego County Supervisor and SANDAG Chairwoman Nora Vargas invited the community to take advantage of this event whose main goal is to promote protection of the environment. This is what she said in a statement:

Whether you ride transit, walk, bike, or carpool on Wednesday, together, we can make a huge impact to reduce gas emissions and improve air quality for everyone.

It is expected that the community begins to consider and compare the prices of public transportation, especially since gas prices are above $6 dollars per gallon.

A San Diego City councilmember, who is serving as MTS board chair, stated:

With record-high gas prices, taking transit not only helps the environment, it can help your wallet too.

Lastly, it was announced that there will be events at stations from 6 AM to 8 AM and from 4 PM to 6 PM with promotional information and data.
