Santa Ana winds will come back to Tijuana starting tomorrow

Gusts of wind from 40 to 60 kilometers per hour are expected

The Civil Protection Agency of Tijuana warned about the presence of the weather phenomenon known as "Santa Ana winds" which will begin on Friday, December 8, 2023 and asked people to take precautions.

According to authorities, these conditions will remain in the city for at least the entirety of Saturday, December 9, with gusts of wind from 40 to 60 kilometers per hour, with things going back to normal on Sunday 10.

In addition to these factors, the arrival of the "El NIño" phenomenon and the new cold front currently ongoing in the state could cause frost in the high and mountainous zones of the municipality, with its peak being on Saturday. It will also cause humidity to drop to less than 15% in the city at large.

Joined by the mayor of Tijuana, Montserrat Caballero, Civil Protection posted the following recommendations:

• Protect children, seniors, and people sensitive to weather changes.
• Keep an eye on cables and electrical wiring that could fall.
• If leaving home, to do it with precaution.
• Keep oneself informed of the warnings and statements that this agency issues.

Lastly, they reminded the community to keep an eye on statements and warnings issued by this agency which can be checked on their official social media pages and on the website www.proteccioncivil.tijuana.gob.mx.
