Tourists in Baja California are worried about not finding gas due to fuel scarcity

They are asking for advice on social media

Since the early morning of Wednesday, May 22, citizens of Tijuana have been affected by a scarcity of gas, mainly caused by panic buying after the access to the Pemex plant in Rosarito was blocked by protestors of the Maclovio Rojas neighborhood that are demanding their property deeds. This blockade also means that gas pipes cannot be supplied from this location.

Tourists worried about not finding fuel in Baja California

Talk Baja is a Facebook group for tourists that are looking to visit Baja California or who come to the state more frequently and share tips about stays, roads, food, and tourism sites. Here, they shared their concern about the lack of gas.

One of the posts reads:

I saw a post saying that it was hard to get gas in Tecate and Rosarito. We are traveling to San Felipe, will we find gas there?

Though many claim that that in several gas stations in Tijuana, as well as in Mexicali and San Felipe, one can find gas with no issues, they also recommended to be ready and to fill your tank in the US so as to not be afraid of not finding fuel. In addition, it is essential that they know which stations will be on their way in case they do need gas.

They said that since it is a problem that is mainly occurring in Tijuana and Rosarito, they should not be worried about getting gas in other municipalities. So far, citizens of Tijuana are sharing on social media that gas stations do have fuel and that there are others who are not serving clients because they are waiting to be resupplied.
