Three places to experience "El Grito de Independencia" in San Diego!

You will be able to enjoy these patriotic Mexican fiestas at these three spots on the other side of the border

The most patriotic Mexican weekend is here, therefore, la fiesta has not stopped in both Tijuana and San Diego, as you'll be able to experience traditional Mexican Independence Day festivities with a great variety of food, music, and shows.

El Grito in Downtown Chula Vista

Together with Alicia Kerber-Palma, Mexico Consul General in San Diego and Mayor John McCann. Chula Vista is preparing to welcome this Sunday, September 15 from 4 PM to 8 PM the "El Grito” celebration at the Memorial Bowl.

This event will have traditional Mexican music shows, an assortment of food and drinks, and it is open for the whole family.

Fiestas Patrias at Old Town

On Saturday, September 14 at Old Town Historic Park, the "Fiestas Patrias" event will take place from 11 AM to 4 PM, where the beginnings of the Mexican Independence, its culture, and music will all be honored.

Besides folkloric dancing and traditional Mexican music, there will be the 1st edition of a competition at this event to find out who makes the best guacamole in Old Town.

Noche Mexicana at Oceanside

On September 15, starting at 1 PM at the Oceanside Civic Center, Noche Mexicana will begin where the history of Mexico will be celebrated through music, food, and several national products.

With performances by Grupo Folklórico Infantil, Banda Herencia Mixteca, Grupo Folklórico Tapatío, and many others, this celebration will last until 7 PM.

With these three celebrations, San Diego once again joins Mexico's most important celebration as it commemorates the 214th year of the beginning of the Independence movement started by priest Miguel Hidalgo in the town of Dolores Hidalgo.
