SAN DIEGO, CA.- Mexican soccer will have a two week rest period during the FIFA international play. Most teams will take advantage of the time to recuperate injured players and give rest to those over used players. The Xoloitzcuitles will be one of the teams most enjoying of this time off due to their double competition. Captain and central defender Javier Gandolfi will have a few more days off then the rest of the squad. Gandolfi will be serving a one game ban during the March 31st game in Nemezio Diez against Toluca.
This announcement was made by the Disciplinary Commission of the Mexican Soccer Federation (FMF). Gandofli was given this suspension due to the fact that he has accumulated five yellow cards in the running tournament.
The good news is that by that date Xolos manager Antonio Mohamed expects Richard Ruiz and Pablo Cesar Aguilar to be available again. Plus this will give the captain a few days off more for rest prior to their Copa Libertadores travel to Bolivia.
The reigning Mexican league champs will return to work tomorrow morning at the Center of Initiation Xoloitzcuitle (Centro de Iniciacion Xoloitcuitle (CIX)). Light training and muscle stretching is in the schedule for tomorrow after three days off.
