Daniel Corral of Ensenada Awarded National Prize

The Baja California native was presented the award by President Peña Nieto.

On Sunday morning the National Sports Award (Premio Nacional del Deporte) was issued in federal government palace; the home of Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto. The Ensenada, Baja California native Daniel Corral was among the honored by the President for his performances in gymnastics where he won a silver medal in this sport.

The ceremony was led by Prseident Peña Nieto who also honored Luis Rivera as well as Taw Kwon Do Gold Medalist Uriel Adriano in addition to the already mentioned Daniel Corral for their performances in non professional sports.

As well as the athletes, Daniel Corral’s trainer Oscar Aguirre was awarded the best coach of the year award.

In the category of professional sports the men’s basketball team took the prize for their qualification to the World Cup obtained in Venezuela beating powerhouses like Argentina along the way.
