Mexican Media says Ochoa is the chosen 'keeper'

Reports from Brazil say Mgiuel Herrera has chosen Ochoa to be Mexico's goalkeeper.

SANTOS - Big TV networks like Fox Sports, ESPN, and Univision are all claiming that it will be Guillermo Ochoa who will be the starting goalkeeper for Mexico during this 2014 FIFA World Cup. The Mexican National Team manager Miguel Herrera was set to make his decision last night and inform the players today.

Reports coming out of Brazil say it was Ochoa who trained the hardest during Monday's practice session indicating that he will be the one to stand in goal come Friday when Mexico opens its World Cup participation against Cameroon.

This is Francisco Guillermo Ochoa's third World Cup - and if the reports are true - he will finally be making his first appearance. He was taken as a third choice goalkeeper to the 2006 World Cup in Germany at the young age of 19 years old. Four years later it was assumed he would be the number one in South Africa 2012; but incoming manager opted to leave Ochoa on the bench and veteran goalkeeper Oscar "Conejo" Perez took the starting spot instead.

Ochoa is currently without a club as he has finished his contract with French side Ajaccio. He is the first and only Mexican goalkeeper to venture out and play in Europe, something that could have been the deciding factor between him and Cruz Azul goalkeeper Jesus Corona at the time Miguel Herrera took the decision.
