Manny Pacquiao continues his political endeavors

He may set aside his boxing career, but hopes to face Mayweather first

SAN DIEGO.- The Filipino boxer famous for defeating the most distinguished Mexican boxers appears to be more interested in politics as of late, and as a result might be putting down his boxing gloves.

Manny Pacquiao owes a lot to the sport and has taken advantage of every opportunity it has given him by making his opinions in his country well known. His opinions range on various topics, including politics, and it seems he is now seeking a position in the Senate of his country, where he might trade in his boxing gloves to carry the flag for his nation in politics.

ESPN.com covered a recent interview sustained by Pacquiao with ABS-CBN news where he indicated that the Nationalist Alliance Union (UNA) might be launching the boxer in an upcoming campaign for a senate seat.

If this were to happen, Pacquiao would retire from boxing in 2016 when his contract with Top Rank ends, but in the meantime his goal is to confront Floyd Mayweather first.
