905 Freeway Starting at Otay Mesa Border Will Shut Down By Night Next Week

Scaffolding removal will force drivers to take alternative route

SAN DIEGO.- The California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS) has announced that starting Monday, November 3rd, a stretch of the westbound 905 freeway will be closed down starting near the port of entry at Otay Mesa.

For four nights, from 9:00 pm to 4:00 am each day, work to remove scaffolding from a newly constructed bridge over the 905 will take place, which will necessitate the closure of a stretch of the highway from Siempre Viva Road to La Media Road.

All traffic exiting the Otay Port of Entry heading westbound will be rerouted onto Siempre Viva Road and then onto La Media Road, where drivers will then take a right turn to once again get onto the 905.

This work is part of construction of State Highway 11, a freeway that will connect the 905 with the new Otay Mesa II Port of Entry, and is part of a larger project that is expected to finalize at the end of 2015.
