President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has honored the crews of “Plan Kukulkán,” the national operation that kept logistics, civil protection, transport, medical care, and security running smoothly across Mexico during the 2026 World Cup.
Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda attended the event and praised the dedication of both institutional partners and frontline staff, whose efforts helped Mexico host the tournament with efficiency, responsiveness, and a strong commitment to hospitality and assistance to families and visitors.
In total, Plan Kukulkán mobilized 124,500 staff members from federal, state, and municipal agencies. Of these, over 90,500 were deployed across seven states, including Baja California, where a variety of World Cup-related activities took place.
In the state, the federal strategy was reinforced by specialized security, civil protection, mobility, and healthcare operations, coordinated at the local level by the Baja California Citizen Security Secretariat in partnership with federal and municipal forces.
This extensive deployment allowed thousands of attendees to safely enjoy match screenings at the Baja Fut Fest venues in Mexicali, Tecate, and Tijuana with round-the-clock surveillance, free admission, and a wide range of sports, cultural, and recreational activities suitable for all ages.
President Sheinbaum noted that the tournament’s success showcased Mexico’s capacity for unity, the strength of its public institutions, and its ability to present a peaceful, vibrant, and welcoming image to the international community.
Nationwide, security protocols were enforced at stadiums and fan zones, while coordinated measures were put in place to safeguard airports, highways, hotels, training facilities, and other critical infrastructure in order to reassure families and transform the World Cup celebration into a lasting example of shared well-being.
