As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen Baja California’s tourism appeal, the State Secretariat of Tourism, through the Public Trust for Tourism Promotion (Fitur BC), recently convened a series of strategic meetings with travel advisors, media representatives, and key opinion leaders in San Diego and Los Angeles.
According to Miguel Ángel Badiola Montaño, Secretary of Tourism, the initiative is designed to bring the diverse offerings of Baja California’s seven destinations directly to influential information hubs capable of shaping traveler perceptions in high-value market segments.
The sessions also fostered valuable dialogue among members of the tourism value chain and other critical industry stakeholders.

Engaging Top-Tier Media and Platforms
Notable participants included journalists and content creators from internationally recognized outlets such as Forbes, Travel + Leisure, Modern Luxury, TravelAge West, JustLuxe, and Ranch & Coast.
With their far-reaching coverage, these platforms helped convey Baja California’s message to audiences with a keen interest in upscale travel, lifestyle, culinary arts, and curated experiences.

The conversations highlighted the authenticity and diversity of the region’s offerings, placing special emphasis on its renowned wine culture, health and wellness tourism, and growing infrastructure for meetings and business events.
Also showcased were the state’s natural routes, gastronomic hotspots, and a premium portfolio of experiences available across its municipalities.

Collaborative Sessions with Travel Advisors
At the same time, working sessions brought together specialized travel advisors and representatives from local hospitality and tourism companies, including Ashono, Fiesta Inn Mexicali, One Mexicali, El Cielo Resort, Hotel Coral & Marina, Vinamun Tours & Transportation, Calafia Turismo, Venture DMC, Hotel Kumiai Inn, Hotel Avid Tijuana, and Rancho La Puerta.
Badiola Montaño reiterated that these promotional efforts in priority markets are a core component of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s strategy to elevate the state’s competitive standing, expand international visibility, and unlock new opportunities for local businesses.

Fitur BC’s promotional itinerary will continue in the coming weeks with visits to other strategic cities, including Phoenix, Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada. These upcoming engagements will feature destination presentations and further networking opportunities with key industry players.

A Culinary Taste of Baja’s Heritage
To celebrate the region’s rich culinary traditions, the San Diego and Los Angeles gatherings each featured a special dinner-presentation for journalists and opinion leaders, offering an immersive taste of Baja California’s distinctive flavors and products.
In Los Angeles, the menu was crafted by chefs Andrés Salazar, founder of SalAzar, and René Calderón, who leads the kitchen at Calma.
For the San Diego event, the culinary experience was overseen by chefs Leopoldo Bórquez and Abraham Sepúlveda Sastre, the driving forces behind Grupo 1934 and Ariete, respectively.
