In Tijuana, just miles from San Diego, not every family has access to the care these moments require. But one organization is working to change that reality: Bebés Milagro de México (Miracle Babies).
Founded in 2017, Bebés Milagro de México (Miracle Babies) was created to support premature and low-birthweight babies, especially those born at the General Hospital of Tijuana.
The foundation was born from a deeply personal experience: several of its founding members had premature babies themselves, which led them to understand firsthand the need to support families who lacked the resources to care for their newborns.
A reality not often seen
Premature birth is complex—and often unpredictable. It’s impossible to know during pregnancy if a baby will be born early or what complications may arise. For parents, facing this situation unexpectedly can be overwhelming.
“It’s a situation that impacts everything at once—medical, emotional, and financial,” shares Mónica González Pineda, president of Miracle Babies México.
Before and after a chance at life
Before Bebés Milagro de México (Miracle Babies) existed, many premature babies lost their lives simply because they did not receive timely care or because hospitals lacked the necessary resources.
Today, thanks to the foundation, the General Hospital of Tijuana now has a specialized operating room that allows for immediate care in critical moments.
A mission that saves lives
Through donations and community support, the foundation provides life-saving equipment and works closely with the hospital to improve neonatal care.
